Artist Statement
"Form in my work is derived from nature. My driving force is giving honor to the creator who formed what was truly formless.
The belief and relationship I have with god shapes my art aesthetic. This relationship has deepened my love, appreciation and respect for nature. I am passionate about relationships. I value the gift of entering and functioning in people lives through my art. Knowing that my work becomes a part of a person's daily life and history is exciting. I hope at best it would bring it's owner joy, pleasure, inspiration and great memories!! It's so important to recognizing the beauty in every day life. We live in a world where it's so easy to get sucked into the negative. My focus is not just what's seen on the surface but the unseen. Everyone is a unique and special creation and I approach my work with that same mind set, giving each piece spontaneous variations. The process and connection between the use of the raw materials: earth, water and fire alone is symbolic and parallels life experience. The ceramic process continues to keep me humble and teachable. When I'm not working in the studio I enjoy baking/cooking, live music and friends."
Visit my blog Pots and Dishes for updates on what I'm working on in the studio and kitchen.
